This position is governed by state licensing policies, Head Start Standards, as well as Better Beginnings requirements and NAEYC Standards. The Early Head Start Program Assistant Director/Lead Teacher will also assist with the oversight and laboratory experiences for students enrolled in the Early Childhood Paraprofessional Technology A.A.S. Degree Program.Duties and Responsibilities: The Early Head Start Assistant Director/Lead Teacher's primary responsibilities will include will assisting the Early Childhood Education Coordinator with the operation of planning and oversight of day-to-day activities; will assist with the supervision and support the center teaching staff in the classrooms and manage the goals and objectives of pre-k and Kindergarten readiness to ensure a smooth and seamless transition in and out of the program; work with teachers, parents, local education agencies, and community agencies in planning and program development, obtaining professional diagnoses and assessments of enrolled students and maintain records and write reports. The Early Head Start will also provide for the physical and emotional needs of preschool children, supporting educational and social experiences, and maintaining detailed records on students in their care. Additional duties will include documenting the observation/ interaction hours of undergraduate students. The infants and toddlers in care will benefit from a unified birth-to-school-entry program that offers age-appropriate curriculum, broad-scale parent engagement activities, continuous and intensive comprehensive child development and family support services (i.e. home visits, health tracking and promotion) that will enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of participating children; support parents efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and help parents move toward self-sufficiency.Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Knowledge of Early Childhood Development and Education, Arkansas Minimum Licensing Requirements, Head Start Standards, NAEYC Standards, Environmental Rating Scales, and observation and assessment of young children. Ability to prepare, present, and review oral and written information. Ability to develop, developmentally appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children. Ability to obtain and provide information, guidance, and education parents. Demonstrated computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, e-mail, and database management. Good Verbal SkillsQualificationsMinimum Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood.Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience of directing a child development program and teaching and caring for infants and toddlers in a child care setting.Applicant Deadline: Open until filled.Required Documentation:
