The Jewish Federation of Arkansas (JFAR) is looking for our next Executive Director to partner with the Board of Directors to execute JFAR's mission to strengthen, support, and sustain the Jewish Community in Arkansas and to support Jewish people in need in Israel and worldwide. As a statewide Federation that has approximately 4,000 Jewish community members, we have a history that goes back to 1912.We seek an energetic leader who brings innovative ideas in community building, financial resource development, and leadership and volunteer engagement. The ideal candidate is passionate about ensuring a thriving Jewish community now and in the future, and who has the ability to inspire, galvanize and engage people both within the Jewish community and with outside partners.The Jewish community of Arkansas is diverse and distributed throughout the state. Some are not affiliated with any specific practice of Judaism. Those who are affiliated belong to a congregation and participate in Jewish life, preserving infrastructures like synagogues and cemeteries. Some of our community live in small towns, but most live in the two most densely populated areas: Central and Northwest Arkansas.Responsibilities:The Executive Director will be responsible for continuing to develop and pursue five important priorities, along with supervising employees and office management.Fundraising is a critical need to continue our important work, and our next Executive Director's top priority will be to develop and be responsible for our annual campaign. They will be responsible for designing and implementing an annual fundraising plan. This is an exciting opportunity to make innovative changes and growth.1. Leadership Development:In the past, our community has had a leadership development program, and we need to begin this again. For all our Jewish institutions, leadership is necessary, and we expect our Executive Director to develop, plan and execute a leadership program that spans statewide.2. Community-building:JFAR is seen as a convening Jewish organization for all Jewish people in the State of Arkansas. Our Executive Director must be an excellent communicator with the ability to bring people together, assess needs, and let the community know who JFAR is and what we offer.3. Marketing and Public Relations:Our Executive Director must be able to professionally market our Federation, which includes updating our website, creating social media, and representing JFAR to the broader Arkansas community. Making use of our volunteers in this endeavor may be necessary.4. JFAR Staff Management:Our Executive Director will be responsible to manage JFAR staff which includes:

• Part-Time Licensed Clinical Social Worker who offers social services for the Jewish community of Arkansas, meeting our needs in identifying and directing our community to resources, especially within the geriatric community.
• Northwest Arkansas Program Coordinator, who is working on augmenting the presence of the federation in the area and who is also managing our PJ Library program.
• Operational Support Coordinator who is in charge of bookkeeping and financial management.Qualifications/Experience:Integrity, energy, and the ability to inspire are as important as the business and organizational management skills. Reporting to the President of JFAR, the Executive Director will work with a talented and committed group of volunteers to carry out our Mission. The ideal candidate will have:
  • 3 + years of progressively responsible experience managing within a complex organization; prior Federation or Jewish Community Foundation experience is desired but not mandatory.
  • Strong experience in all aspects of fundraising including annual campaigns, grants, individual gift solicitation, stewardship, and endowment development.
  • Excellent collaborative leader and successful manager of staff, volunteers, and community members.
  • Proven business and financial acumen, with experience leading positive and sustainable financial and cultural change within an organization.
  • Deep passion for the Jewish people, combined with a commitment to get to know the local Jewish community at a deep level, individually and collectively.
  • Ability to travel statewide.
  • Excellent written, oral, and social media communication skills.
  • Experience with lay leadership development. A master's degree in related field preferred or bachelor's with equivalent experience.Salary range: $70,000 - $95,000 depending on experience.Benefits include a health insurance stipend, sick leave, vacation leave, and retirement.This is a full-time position and includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays.The Community: Arkansas is home to a diverse Jewish population.
