A Day in the Life of the Broadband Network Technician I: The Broadband Network Technician I is responsible for detecting, troubleshooting and resolving system outages for data, video, and telephone. This role will be responsible for emergency restoration of coax, underground cable, maintenance of power supply, leakage and splicing. The BNT I is required to maintain documentation as needed. This role participates in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Detect, troubleshoot and resolve system outages in aerial and/or underground capacities related to transmission levels, signal losses and off-air interference. Prepare and perform emergency aerial and/or underground coaxial cable restoration due to variables such as cable breaks and/or damage Perform preventative maintenance (power supply, actives) in the form of testing, balancing, alignment and adjustments of components or equipment Monitor, record and repair cable leakage, complying with applicable regulations Observe and assist co-workers with fiber splicing activities Complete and distribute required documentation, such as work orders and daily logs Participation in a 24/7 on-call rotation Other duties as assigned Requirements/Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: 2 years (telecom technician) Competencies: Maintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's license; Customer Service, Communication (verbal, written), Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working alone; Ability to read and interpret maps; Bucket Certified; Ohm’s; Understand the Outside Plant Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ladder; Hand or Power Tools; Customer Service; Communication (verbal, written); Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working alone We're Proud to Offer a Comprehensive Benefits Package Including: 401k retirement plan, with employer match Insurance options including: medical, dental, vision, life and STD insurance Paid Time Off/Vacation: Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organization Floating Holiday: 40 hours per year Paid Holidays: 7 days per year Paid Sick Leave: Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local laws Tuition reimbursement program Employee discount program *Benefits listed above are for regular full-time position Comp range: 23-35 ADD FULL PTP PRIOR TO POSTING Our Mission Statement: * Take care of our customers * Take care of each other * Do what we say we are going to do * Have fun Astound is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we are dedicated to cultivating an inclusive workplace where employees feel valued, respected, and empowered.
