Manager POSITION SUMMARY The Yard Planning & Inventory Manager is
responsible for the strategic planning, control, and optimization
of raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods
inventory—including coils, plates, and pipes—across yard and
storage areas at a large, advanced pipe manufacturing facility.
This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective material
flow, supports production continuity, and optimizes yard
utilization, inventory accuracy, and dispatch readiness in
alignment with production, logistics, and customer delivery
schedules. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Yard Planning & Layout
Management Develop and maintain optimized yard layouts for steel
coils, steel plates (LSAW & specialty grades), pipes (HFI / ERW /
LSAW), finished goods, and dispatch zones Ensure efficient flow of
plates and coils from storage to production with minimal handling
Optimize yard utilization to reduce congestion and improve safety
Coordinate stacking, segregation, and accessibility based on grades
and dimensions 2. Inventory Management & Control Own inventory
accuracy for raw materials (coils & plates), WIP, and finished
goods Maintain real-time inventory visibility using ERP/WMS systems
Lead cycle counts, physical inventories, and variance resolution
Ensure FIFO compliance, heat traceability, and proper material
identification 3. Production & Dispatch Coordination Coordinate
daily with production planning, coating, quality, and logistics
teams Ensure timely availability of materials for production
Support truck, rail, and barge dispatch activities Prevent
production delays caused by material misplacement or shortages 4.
Yard Operations & Safety Leadership Enforce safety standards for
crane operations, forklifts, and plate handling Ensure compliance
with OSHA and company safety policies Conduct safety audits and
implement corrective actions Promote a zero-incident safety culture
5. Systems, Reporting & Continuous Improvement Utilize ERP/WMS
systems to track material flow and inventory aging Develop KPIs
including inventory accuracy, dwell time, damage rate, and dispatch
performance Lead Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives
Support digital transformation and automation projects 6. Team
Leadership Lead yard planners, inventory controllers, and yard
supervisors Set performance expectations and accountability Train
teams on safety, systems, and best practices QUALIFICATIONS &
EXPERIENCE Education Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial
Engineering, Logistics, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Experience 7–12 years of experience in yard operations, inventory
control, or manufacturing logistics Strong experience in steel,
pipe, or heavy manufacturing environments Experience handling steel
plates, coils, and large-diameter pipe ERP system experience (SAP
preferred) Familiarity with rail, truck, and barge logistics KEY
